Critical statement from Naci Görür following the Aydın earthquake!
The 4.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Germencik district of Aydın was evaluated by geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür. Stating that the tremor occurred on the northern horst of the Büyük Menderes Graben, Görür indicated that the earthquake was caused by a normal fault.
AFAD announced that a 4.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Germencik district of Aydın yesterday evening.
The earthquake occurred yesterday at 19:51.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority announced the depth of the tremor as 8.99 kilometers.
In a statement made by the Kandilli Observatory, the magnitude of the tremor was determined to be 3.9.
Geologist and Earthquake Expert Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made the following assessment on his social media account following the earthquake:
"A 4.0 (AFAD) or 3.9 (BÜ) earthquake occurred in Aydın-Germencik. The earthquake is on the northern horst of the Büyük Menderes Graben.
Undoubtedly, the fault is a normal fault. With love"
