Critical threshold in the process initiated by Bahçeli: Date set for the terrorist organization PKK's so-called congress and the right to hope!

A new phase is beginning in the "terror-free Turkey" process that started with Devlet Bahçeli's remarks in Parliament. According to reports from political circles, following the meeting between President Erdoğan and the DEM Party, the separatist organization will convene its so-called congress, after which a "right to hope" regulation for Öcalan will be brought to Parliament.

Political circles have become active regarding the "Imralı Process," which was initiated by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call from the parliamentary podium on October 22. Despite claims that the process, launched with the goal of a terror-free Turkey, has stalled, information shared by journalist Hilal Köylü suggests that the process has not frozen; on the contrary, it is about to enter a new and critical phase.

ROADMAP TO BE CLARIFIED AFTER DEM DELEGATION-ERDOĞAN MEETING

According to Köylü, steps that will determine the course of the process will be taken following the meeting between President Erdoğan and the DEM Party delegation, which is expected to take place this week. After the meeting, the congress date of the terrorist organization will be announced, and the organization is expected to lay down its arms and dissolve itself.

While Bahçeli had previously called for the organization to hold a congress by May 5, both parties' plans envision this congress taking place at the end of April. Following the congress, a "right to hope" regulation will be submitted to Parliament.

DISSOLUTION DECISION EXPECTED AT PKK CONGRESS

In the first phase of the process, a DEM Party delegation reportedly visited Imralı to meet with PKK leader Öcalan, after which it was stated that Öcalan had called on the organization to lay down its arms and dissolve. Now, all eyes are on the PKK's congress, which is expected to convene at the end of April.

The PKK wing had previously demanded that the congress be held under Öcalan's leadership and that his physical freedom be ensured for this to happen. However, according to reports from political circles, Öcalan's release from prison is not on the agenda for the time being.

"RIGHT TO HOPE" REGULATION COMING TO PARLIAMENT

The "right to hope" regulation to be submitted to Parliament after the congress is planned to be prepared in accordance with the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). With this regulation, it is aimed to provide prisoners who have served a certain period of their sentence the opportunity for a retrial or release.

However, according to reports from political circles, Abdullah Öcalan will not directly benefit from this regulation. It is expected that Öcalan will continue to remain in Imralı, but his communication and visitation rights will be expanded. In particular, a basis for regular meetings with his lawyers and relatives is expected to be established.

PROCESS HAS NOT STALLED, IT IS ACCELERATING

According to journalist Hilal Köylü, comments in the public sphere suggesting that the "process has stopped" are untrue. On the contrary, the parties believe that the process will gain even more momentum following the Erdoğan-DEM meeting.
