Death toll in Kartalkaya hotel fire reaches 78: Identities confirmed

In a statement regarding the fire tragedy that occurred at a hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, the Ministry of Justice announced that all identities have been confirmed and the number of those who lost their lives is 78.

"HEAVILY DAMAGED"

Firefighting teams completed search-and-rescue and cooling operations as of 3:30 PM yesterday. A preliminary damage assessment report was prepared for the hotel building. The preliminary report determined that the hotel is "heavily damaged." Once the damage assessment work is completed and the final report is issued, a decision will be made on whether to carry out reinforcement work on the building or to demolish it.

HOTEL SEALED

The main entrance door of the hotel, which has been reduced to ashes, was cordoned off and sealed. In the preliminary report prepared by the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the hotel was given a heavy damage report. It was also learned that gendarmerie teams will search for jewelry and valuables in the hotel during the day.
