Details of the new resolution commission to be established in the Turkish Parliament have emerged

In the new 'opening' process, architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey' by the government, a group of PKK terrorists laid down their arms in Sulaymaniyah on July 11, following a video message from terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced in a statement following the terrorist organization PKK's so-called ceremony that they would conduct the new 'opening' process with the AKP, MHP, and DEM Party.

While many questions remain in the public eye regarding the transparency of the process, eyes have also turned to the commission to be established in the Turkish Parliament. AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik announced that the commission would be established within this week.

According to reporting by Ceren Bayar from T24, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş will send a letter to political parties on Wednesday. This letter will request the notification of members of parliament who will serve on the commission. It has been learned that the commission's first meeting will be held before the end of this week.

NEW COMMISSION TO BE ESTABLISHED BY PARLIAMENT SPEAKER'S DECISION

Despite the opposition's demands, the new commission is expected to be formed not by law, but by the decision of the Parliament Speaker. The commission, which is planned to operate in a structure similar to the previously established Constitutional Conciliation Commission, will have a defined term of office and will not be subject to the internal regulations like specialized committees. This structure will be able to prepare legislative proposals and submit these proposals to Parliament.

35 MEMBERS IN THE COMMISSION, EQUAL REPRESENTATION AND QUALIFIED MAJORITY REQUIREMENT

The commission is envisioned to consist of 35 members. It is planned that all political parties with groups in Parliament will be represented equally in the commission, with 5 members each. A quota of 5 seats is aimed to be reserved for parties without groups and independent members of parliament. It is stated that a qualified majority will be required for decisions to be taken.

COMMISSION WILL ALSO OPERATE DURING THE SUMMER PERIOD

It is stated that the commission will begin working without delay after its establishment and will not go on summer recess. As part of its work, the commission will hear from relevant public officials, civil society representatives, and academics. It will obtain information when necessary and carry out various visits to disseminate the process to society.

LEGISLATIVE PREPARATIONS AND INTEGRATION TOPICS ON THE AGENDA

The commission is expected to make preparations throughout the summer for the legislative regulations needed for the process to progress. In particular, what steps should be taken regarding the reintegration of organization members who have laid down their arms into society will also be among the topics to be discussed in the commission.

AKP MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WILL BE IN THE FIELD

In parallel with the process, the AKP is also starting its own efforts. It is stated that party members of parliament will be in the field in their electoral districts throughout the summer months to explain the process to their voters.
