Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel announced that his party will hold an extraordinary congress on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Speaking at the CHP Headquarters, Özel stated that the decision for an extraordinary congress was made within the framework of the party bylaws.

Özel said, "Based on the authority granted to me as chairman by our bylaws, we are announcing that we have decided to hold an extraordinary congress in 15 days."

Stating that they have set the date of the congress as April 6, 2025, Özel announced that they have applied to the Çankaya District Election Board. He also noted that the CHP delegate list will be posted on March 31, 2025.

TRUSTEE REMARK FROM MHP

Following the CHP's decision for an extraordinary congress, a striking statement came from Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız.

In a post on his social media account, Yıldız recalled the ongoing investigation into the CHP's previous congress held on November 4-5, 2024, and used the following expressions:

"If the votes of the delegates whose will was corrupted at the CHP congress held on November 4-5, 2024, reach a level that would affect the quorum, and if for this reason the general assembly is canceled or the conditions for appointing a trustee are met; since the cancellation decision would be retroactive, the elections for all bodies, including the chairman, are null and void."

In his statement, Yıldız further claimed that if the congress were canceled, Özgür Özel's authority as chairman would also be considered invalid, and in that case, he would no longer have the authority to lead the party to a congress.
