As part of an investigation conducted by the Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning targeting the previous administration of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. During the operation, former Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, İZBETON A.Ş. executives, various cooperative presidents, company owners, and municipal bureaucrats were detained.

The investigation focuses on allegations of bribery and irregularities in tenders conducted by the municipality and its affiliated companies. While a significant portion of the 157 individuals for whom detention orders were issued were taken into police custody as "present" (mevcutlu), some are under "notification" (ikmalen) detention status.

TUNÇ SOYER AND CHP İzmir PROVINCIAL CHAIR ALSO DETAINED

Among the most notable names in the operation were former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and İZBETON A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Mustafa Tunç Soyer and CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu.

Those detained from İZBETON A.Ş. include General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, Deputy Chairman of the Board Barış Karcı, and Board members Belma Özeş, Mustafa Levent Sınmaz, Sevcan Tınaztepe, and many other senior executives. It was stated that many of these individuals also hold positions as department heads or advisors at the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

In addition, senior bureaucrats such as Heads of the Department of Science Affairs Özgür Ozan Yılmaz, Sercan Kahya, and Murat Varlıorpak, Head of the Construction Tenders Department Şule Kök Yıldırım, Head of the Procurement Department Övünç Özgen, and Head of the Machinery Supply and Repair Department Murat Koçak were also on the detention list.

On the cooperative front, names included: Business People Örnekköy Housing Construction Cooperative President and CHP Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu, Business World Housing Construction Cooperative President Cihangir Lübiç, Business People Gaziemir Housing Construction Cooperative President Serdar Deniz, Business Community New Life Housing Construction Cooperative President Hüseyin Cengiz, and Aegean Business People Housing Construction Cooperative President Veysel Kara.

Company owners detained in the operation included many contractors such as Ahmet Kantek from Ege Safira İnşaat, Şahabettin Bakan and Serhat Bakan from İ-Reform İnşaat, Serkan Kazır from Seka Grup İnşaat, Yıldırım Kurucuoğulları and Erdal Şaroğlu from City Construction, Cafer Kan and Halit Rengin from İzür İnşaat, Yusuf Yıldız from Siyam Group İnşaat, Mustafa Yücel Turan from Ramer İnşaat, Ali Üykü from Ege Tem Şehir Temizliği, Şeref Bülbül from Çevlog, Onur Yıldırım from Onas İnşaat, and Zeyni Baştuğ from As-Yol.
