Erdoğan signs: 128 deputy governors and 224 district governors reassigned

With appointment decisions bearing the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette dated May 27, 2025, new deputy governors were appointed to 128 positions and new district governors to 224 districts, while changes were also made to various key roles within the Ministry of Interior.

NEW NAME FOR THE STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT PRESIDENCY

By presidential decree, Hüseyin Tekin was appointed as the Head of Strategy Development at the Ministry of Interior. This critical change in duty came into effect with the decree dated May 27, 2025, and numbered 2025/204.

HIGH-LEVEL APPOINTMENTS IN MIGRATION MANAGEMENT

Ahmet Küçükikiz was appointed as the General Manager of Irregular Migration Combat and Deportation Affairs, while Zafer Öz was appointed as the Head of Guidance and Inspection. At the same time, Niyazi Ulugölge was appointed as the Vice President of the Presidency of Migration Management, marking a widespread change in the institution's management staff.

NEW CHIEF INSPECTOR AND GENERAL MANAGER OF LEGAL SERVICES

Mehmet Mut was appointed as Chief Civil Inspector, and Harun Başıbüyük was appointed as the General Manager of Legal Services. With these appointments, the aim is to further strengthen inspection and legal processes.

DISTRICT GOVERNORS APPOINTED TO NEW DUTIES

With another presidential decree of the same date, numbered 2025/205, changes were also made to some district governorship positions. Keskin District Governor Tunahan Çil was appointed as a Department Head at the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, while Sur District Governor Asım Solak was appointed as a Department Head at the General Directorate of Provincial Administration.
