Fatih Altaylı reveals the government's true goal: The Ekrem İmamoğlu detail...
Journalist Fatih Altaylı has revealed the primary objective behind the operations targeting CHP municipalities. Altaylı stated, 'The sole purpose is not just to prevent Ekrem İmamoğlu's candidacy.'
As part of the 9th wave of operations against the Beyoğlu Municipality, detention warrants were issued for 44 individuals, including Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney. Following the dawn raid, 42 people, including the mayor, were detained. This operation stands out as the latest in a series of consecutive raids targeting CHP-run municipalities.
Despite the MHP's instruction for indictments to be written rapidly and the exposure of the 'IMM Exchange' by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, the operations have been evaluated as a major political maneuver.
The CHP argued that these moves are merely a strategy aimed at the elections and harshly criticized the government's plans regarding CHP-run municipalities.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı, who has been detained for 55 days, stated in today's broadcast that the operations against CHP municipalities are not solely aimed at preventing Ekrem İmamoğlu's presidential candidacy. Altaylı said, 'The government is trying to block the CHP's path to power.'
Altaylı stated that the AKP expected failure in CHP-run municipalities, but on the contrary, the CHP demonstrated successful municipal governance, thereby upendingthese plans of the government, andsaid thefollowing:
'İmamoğlu's path was already blocked by the cancellation of his diploma and a political ban. But the real goal is to block the CHP's path to power. The AKP was deeply disappointed by the CHP's successful municipal governance. Having gained public support through social municipalism, the CHP stood by the people with social aid such as city restaurants, nurseries, and dormitories. The AKP tried to block these projects. But it didn't work. Now, they aim to stop the public from receiving services by establishing a judicial clampdown on the municipalities.'
Fatih Altaylı said that the AKP thought the CHP would fail in municipal governance, but on the contrary, the CHP proved itself with projects that support the public. Stating that 'food aid, cash assistance, city restaurants, nurseries, dormitories, and social aid began to elevate the CHP,' Altaylı emphasized that the AKP is trying to weaken the CHP's bond with the public by conducting operations through the judiciary to prevent this success.
