First instruction from arrested İmamoğlu to municipal staff revealed: 'What did İmamoğlu ask of the bureaucrats'

The instruction given to municipal bureaucrats on the day Ekrem İmamoğlu, CHP's presidential candidate and İBB mayor, who is being held in Silivri Prison, was arrested has emerged.

As the repercussions of the operation targeting İmamoğlu continue, Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk wrote a column titled "What did İmamoğlu ask of bureaucrats?"

The relevant section of Öztürk's article is as follows:

"The expected operations began to be carried out. A trustee could not be appointed to the municipality, but it was thought that the impression would emerge of a municipality unable to produce work. On the contrary, those working at the municipality and its subsidiaries embraced the municipality and its subsidiaries. 

The writs coming from the prosecutor's office, company names, their relationships, questions about whether work was done, and the frequent sight of police arriving to collect files are also leading to comments that there is a 'new wave of operations.'

When Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested, he reportedly sent the following message to the municipality's senior officials: 'If you were working one unit before, now I want you to work 10. Do not let services be disrupted; keep your morale high. The aim is to render İBB unable to function and to purge senior staff.'

Senior officials from the municipality were expected to resign. However, no one resigned except for one person. An official I spoke with said, 'Believe me, if we were working one unit before İmamoğlu was arrested, now we are working 10.'
