Flash development regarding Grand Kartal Hotel! Jewelry and valuables to be searched for

The fire at the 12-story Grand Kartal Hotel, located at the Kartalkaya Ski Center on the summit of the Köroğlu Mountains, broke out yesterday around 03:30 AM and grew rapidly.

Numerous teams dispatched from Bolu, Düzce, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Karabük, Zonguldak, Bartın, and Ankara intervened to extinguish the fire.

76 LIVES LOST

The fire was brought under control after approximately 10 hours of effort. In the blaze, which reduced the hotel to ashes, 76 people lost their lives, and 51 people were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

11 PEOPLE DETAINED

Within the scope of the investigation launched into the fire, 11 people have been detained.

With the first light of morning, AFAD teams began preparations in the area. AFAD and accompanying expert teams conducted a final forensic search in the burned hotel today.

GENDARMERIE ALSO LAUNCHED AN OPERATION: JEWELRY AND VALUABLES WILL BE SEARCHED

Accompanied by the public prosecutors assigned to the case, AFAD and search and rescue teams examined the rooms one by one. The expert team, having completed their work inside the hotel, handed the building over to the gendarmerie teams.

Under the coordination of the Kartalkaya Gendarmerie Command, gendarmerie personnel have launched an operation to locate jewelry and valuables inside the hotel. The work of the gendarmerie teams inside the hotel is ongoing.
