Gürsel Tekin breaks his silence to pro-government media! Who will he go to the CHP provincial building with?

The lawsuit filed regarding the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress held on October 8, 2023, has concluded. The court ruled for the removal of Özgür Çelik and the current administration from office.

As part of the decision, 196 delegates were provisionally suspended from their duties, and the ongoing congress process was halted. Gürsel Tekin, who announced his resignation from the CHP in 2024, was appointed to the Istanbul Provincial Presidency. Gürsel Tekin announced that he would go to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters on Monday, September 8.

The CHP called on Istanbul residents at 11:00 PM yesterday to gather at the provincial headquarters building where the dismissed provincial administration is located. Following this, the Istanbul Governor's Office banned all press statements, marches, rallies, and similar events in 6 districts until September 10.

After the CHP's call, the area around the building was surrounded by riot police teams, and access roads were closed. Tensions and scuffles occurred from time to time between the police and citizens.

Gürsel Tekin, who is expected to go to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters today at 12:00 PM, made statements to Yavuz Donat, one of the columnists for the pro-government newspaper Sabah.

Yavuz Donat recounted his conversation with Gürsel Tekin as follows:

"Today... 12:00 PM... Gürsel Tekin will go to the CHP İstanbul Provincial Headquarters. I asked:

- What if the door is locked?

Gürsel Tekin said, 'That is the father's hearth':

- The door of the father's hearth cannot be locked... I served as provincial president for 3.5 years... The door of the father's hearth is open to its children.

Gürsel Tekin... began by saying, 'A lifetime in the father's hearth':

I was 17... My first step into the father's hearth. At 18... I was the youth branch president in my district. District administration... Municipal Council membership... Provincial Vice Presidency... Provincial Presidency... I climbed all the stairs one by one. CHP Group Presidency of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Party Assembly membership... CHP Secretary General... Deputy Chairman... The only thing I haven't done is the General Presidency."

Then... He brought the subject to today... To 12:00 PM:

I am going to embrace... Together with my friends.

When Gürsel Tekin said, 'I will go with my friends'... I asked:

- With whom?

He laughed:

- I can't name them all... Berhan Şimşek, Cemal Canpolat, Ali Özcan, who have served as provincial presidents... Our old and new party members... Erkan Narsap... Zeki Şen... Friends whose hearts beat for the CHP... We will embrace in a humble way in the father's house."
