In the latest wave of a drug investigation that began with famous actors and singers and has now spread to the media world, 8 people were detained, and 4 of them, including former Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were arrested and sent to prison.

While discussions continue regarding Ersoy, who denied the accusations against him in his statement, a decision taken by the AKP-run Esenler Municipality has drawn attention.

Mehmet Akif Ersoy was scheduled to be a speaker at the “Esenler Media Academy” program, which the Esenler Municipality planned to organize on December 14 as part of its Culture and Arts Events.

The poster announcing the presentation titled “Media Management” was torn down by unidentified individuals following the news of the arrest.

Underneath the poster, an announcement for the 25th-anniversary commemoration event for Ahmet Kaya, who passed away on November 16, 2000, was revealed. The municipality has not made any statement regarding the matter.

“I NEVER SAW ERSOY OUTSIDE OF WORK”

Former HaberTürk anchor Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who was also detained as part of the investigation, denied the allegation that a photo allegedly showing Mehmet Akif Ersoy in an environment where drugs were being used was found on her phone.

In a statement made to the public, Cebeci used the following expressions:

“I have nothing to hide. When this slander is cleared, I will be the first to announce it to my audience. I have never had a meeting, encounter, or social activity with him outside of the workplace.

I gave the password to the police of my own free will so that the evidence could emerge quickly.”
