Interior of perfume warehouse in Kocaeli where 6 people lost their lives captured on camera

A fire, the cause of which has not yet been explained, broke out around 09:00 in the morning at a 2-story perfume filling facility located in the Mimar Sinan neighborhood of Dilovası.

As the flames grew rapidly and engulfed the building completely, the fire also reached the roof of the structure adjacent to the facility.

Upon reports from local citizens, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the area. Although the flames were brought under control and extinguished through the intensive efforts of the teams, the tragedy could not be avoided.

Six people lost their lives in the fire, and 4 others, 1 of whom is in critical condition, were taken to hospitals. An investigation into the tragedy has been launched, and detention warrants have been issued for 3 individuals.

"CHILDREN AND WOMEN WERE SCREAMING"

Neighborhood resident Mehmet Düzgüner said, "It was around 09:00, there was an explosion sound. I got up and looked down from the balcony, and a man was on fire. I went downstairs, grabbed the hose in the garden, and extinguished the man. There were screams. Children and women were screaming. I wanted to go inside, but I couldn't because of the flames. This workplace had been operating for 4 years and had been reported many times. I don't know how many people were working, but there were young children and women too. They were screaming and shouting. May God give patience to those left behind. There is no way to enter the factory. The fire was already too intense. People couldn't get out because of the explosion. The front of the door was completely engulfed in flames. It was impossible for them to get out. We couldn't enter, and they couldn't get out. This is the only entrance and exit anyway. If it had been a small fire, I would have tried to go in and do something, but I couldn't. Because it was a very large fire. If I had gone inside, I would have burned and wouldn't have been able to get out either. But watching people's screams in silence is a terrible thing."

"YOUNG GIRLS AND MOTHERS DIED"

Another neighborhood resident, Cihan Taş, said, "Young children died in the burning building. I have a next-door neighbor, a 30-year-old woman, her 3 children were left motherless. Many businesses here have many problems. I'm not naming names, but there is another firm. It does recycling work. There are problems there too. There is no possibility that a similar incident won't happen again. People here did not die of natural causes. Here, people's deaths were ignored in a conscious, deliberate way. We need an air fleet here, not just land, for emergency situations. Young girls died here. Mothers died, their children were left behind. People are being deceived here, people are being systematically forced to struggle. People are living by chance. The sister who passed away had come to work at the business this morning without her husband's knowledge. Children were left motherless."

Examinations conducted after the fire determined that all products inside had burned and even the metal construction had been damaged due to the high heat.

Footage captured by drone revealed the heavy damage inside the facility, clearly reflecting the scale of the tragedy.
