Iran denies it, but... The mystery of the missile that fell in Turkey has been solved: The launch point has been identified
New information has emerged regarding the source of the two missiles that were destroyed after heading toward Turkish airspace. According to security sources, both missiles were fired from a region east of Tehran. It is assessed that the missiles, which were determined to have a range of approximately 1,200 kilometers, may have been launched due to malfunctions in Iran's "mosaic defense" system and its central command chain.
Iranian missiles that traveled through Iraq and Syria and entered Turkish airspace were destroyed in the air by NATO defense systems. Following the incident, investigations revealed new details regarding the range, launch point, and firing method of the missiles.
According to initial assessments by security sources, both missiles were fired from the same location and were determined to have a range of approximately 1,200 kilometers.
WARNING FROM TURKEY TO IRAN
Due to the missiles being fired consecutively from the same region and subsequently destroyed in the air, the Ankara administration issued a warning to Iran at the highest level.
In a phone call held at the request of Masoud Pezeshkian, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey is being negatively affected by conflicts in which it is not a party.
Erdoğan stated that the violation of Turkish airspace, regardless of the justification, is unacceptable and that Turkey will continue to take all necessary measures.
IRAN DENIES IT, BUT...
In his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Hakan Fidan also stated that steps that could jeopardize regional security must be avoided.
Iranian Minister Araghchi, however, argued that the missiles heading toward Turkish airspace were not fired by Iran.
BOTH MISSILES WERE LAUNCHED FROM EAST OF TEHRAN
According to the report in Türkiye Gazetesi, security sources stated that the second missile also had the same range as the first and that both missiles were fired from the same point.
Investigations determined that the launch point of the missiles was a region east of Tehran.
ATTENTION DRAWN TO THE “MOSAIC DEFENSE” SYSTEM
Sources pointed out that the incident may be linked to Iran's "mosaic defense" system.
According to assessments, it is believed that the US and Israel disabled Iran's central defense system in the early days of the attacks, and therefore, previously issued defense orders may have been activated automatically.
OLD ORDERS MAY HAVE BEEN EXECUTED
It is stated that in Iran's defense planning, the country is divided into 7-8 separate regions, and in the event of a disruption in the central command system, previously issued orders continue to be executed.
Sources reported that the possibility that the commander operating in the region targeting Turkey may have executed previously issued orders is being examined, and that a detailed investigation into the matter is ongoing.
It was reported that the second missile was also struck by an interceptor missile launched from a US ship assigned to NATO in the Eastern Mediterranean, and that its range was the same as the first missile, approximately 1,200 kilometers.
ANKARA IS APPROACHING WITH CAUTION
It was stated that the Ankara administration is evaluating the statements coming from Iran with caution within the framework of the current conflict environment and the "mosaic defense" system.
Security sources stated that Turkey is acting carefully against provocations and that preventing the war from spreading to the region, preventing the expansion of the conflict, and ensuring Iran does not fragment are among Ankara's priorities.
Furthermore, it was noted that Turkey is conducting its diplomatic initiatives within this framework and that contacts with regional countries and Azerbaijan are continuing in order to prevent the opening of new fronts.
Security sources also made assessments regarding the possibility of a third missile being fired from Iran toward Turkey.
While it was stated that Turkey will not take part in any scenario that could lead to it being dragged into the war, it was emphasized that deterrence will be maintained with a sensible and cool-headed stance.
