Turkey is focused on the statements expected to be made by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 15.

While there is curiosity about what kind of message will be given to the public following the second meeting between the DEM Party's Imralı delegation and Öcalan, the most notable statement came from DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan.

Meeting with his party members in Çanakkale, Bakırhan said that the message Öcalan will deliver will be "in line with the spirit of Çanakkale." These remarks were evaluated as important clues regarding the content of Öcalan's call.

Arguing that Öcalan's statements will be an important step toward the democratic resolution of the Kurdish issue, Bakırhan made the following assessments:

“What Öcalan will say in his call can be debated for days. But we are not by Öcalan's side. We know that he will give a very important message regarding the democratization of Turkey and the resolution of the Kurdish issue. We believe that messages will come that will relieve Turkey and ensure that 85 million people live together in brotherhood and equality.”
