Killers of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi to stand trial on April 10

The two murder suspects who stabbed and killed 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, the son of an Italian chef, at a market in Kadıköy where he had gone with his friends to buy skateboard equipment, will appear before a judge for the first time on April 10.

Because the suspects are under 18, they will be tried in juvenile court.

In the preliminary report prepared by the Anatolian 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court regarding the case in which the two juvenile suspects will be tried with a request for up to 24 years in prison each, it was decided that the detention of the children dragged into crime, U.B. (15) and B.B. (15), would continue.

The court panel ruled that the hearing will be held on April 10.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A dispute occurred between Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who had gone to the market in Hasanpaşa neighborhood, and B.B. and U.B. Minguzzi, who wanted to leave the market, was stabbed 5 times by B.B., while U.B. kicked Minguzzi after he fell to the ground.

Minguzzi, who was seriously injured, was taken to the hospital after intervention by medical teams, while the 2 suspects who fled were arrested after being caught. Minguzzi was admitted to the intensive care unit at the hospital where he was taken, but passed away on February 9.

In the indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was requested that both suspects be sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison for the crime of "intentional killing of a child."
