MHP's 'opening' poster emphasizes 9 regions! It sparked controversy...

A commission was established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the new opening process, which began with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party deputies at the opening of the parliament on October 1 and his call to terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan on October 22.

The commission was named the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission. While the public waits with curiosity to see what the next stages of the process will bring, the MHP has begun field operations as part of the process.

In a text published on the MHP's official website on June 21, signed by the "Media, Communication and Digital Channels Presidency," the scope of the meetings to be held was announced in a statement titled "Written statement regarding the 'National Unity and Solidarity Meetings for a Terror-Free Turkey' to be organized by our party with the theme of 'Centennial Unity, Eternal Brotherhood'," and the definition of "9 regions" in the statement drew attention.

"9 REGIONS"

The statement included the following expressions:

"As the Nationalist Movement Party, we aim for lasting peace, tranquility, and prosperity through social consensus and national unity. Undoubtedly, the goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey' will be realized through the ownership of this process by all members of society and through state-nation solidarity. A Terror-Free Turkey will be a Turkey where human rights and freedoms are strengthened, and which is more democratic and prosperous.

Our party, as a requirement of the national responsibility it carries and its constructive political understanding, will organize 'National Unity and Solidarity Meetings for a Terror-Free Turkey' covering 81 provinces in 9 regions with the theme of 'Centennial Unity, Eternal Brotherhood'.

With these meetings, which we will hold to reinforce the spirit of national unity and brotherhood, it is aimed to;

Inform our citizens with accurate information within the scope of initiatives and developments for a Terror-Free Turkey, and eliminate fake news and disinformation circulated especially through social media,

Convey our party policies and our political understanding that embraces every segment of society to large masses, and record the expectations of our citizens,

Evaluate internal and external political, social, and economic developments,

Build a bridge of trust between citizens, civil society, and the public at the local level,

Create a strong social consensus for the realization of the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey,

Reinforce our thousand-year brotherhood through social embrace and unite around national ideals.

Our meetings, in which our party's Central Executive Board (MYK) and Central Disciplinary Board (MDK) members, deputies, and provincial and district organizations will take part, will invite;

Chambers of commerce and industry,

Chambers of agriculture,

Chambers of tradesmen and craftsmen,

Professional unions and trade unions,

Non-governmental organizations, associations, and foundations,

Associations of martyrs and veterans,

Local administrators and village heads (muhtars),

and all our citizens."

POSTERS PHOTOGRAPHED

During the campaign process launched on June 21, a poster, which was claimed to have been photographed in Ankara, drew attention on social media.

While the poster in question featured a photograph of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli along with the party's emblem, the phrases "In 9 regions and 81 provinces" and "National Unity and Solidarity Meetings for a Terror-Free Turkey" were used.

However, the phrase "9 regions," which contradicts the fact that Turkey consists of only 7 geographical regions, was another detail that drew reactions from social media users.
