Ministry exposes counterfeit products in cheese and olive oil! Irregularities revealed

Increasing its inspections to prevent food fraud, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to expose products that could endanger health. With the latest update, new cheese and olive oil brands have been added to the list of imitation and adulterated products.

Fraudulent practices, particularly in olive oil and cheese, pose a serious threat to consumer health. By identifying such products, the Ministry has warned citizens about consuming safe food.

DETECTED IN OLIVE OIL AND CHEESE

During the Ministry's inspections:

It was determined that 8 cheese brands had low fat content.

It was determined that 12 olive oil brands contained mixtures of low-quality and seed oils.

While this situation highlights the extent of fraud in the food sector, it also forces consumers to be more careful about shopping consciously.

FOOD FRAUD HAS INCREASED

Fraud in food products is not limited to just cheese and olive oil. In previous inspections conducted by the Ministry:

Meat products (lahmacun, kebab, etc.)

Honey and dairy products

Vegetable oils

Imitation and adulteration were also encountered in many categories such as these. While it was emphasized that products with suspicious prices, smells, or tastes should not be consumed, citizens were urged to report them to the ALO 174 Food Hotline.
