The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its list of adulterated and misbranded food products that threaten human health. While 35 more products were added to the list in question, a luxury restaurant located in Zorlu Center drew attention.

1346 PRODUCTS ON THE LIST

26 new products were added to the Adulteration-1 list (the addition of a substance that does not carry the same value as the product, as if it were the same substance), and 9 new products were added to the Adulteration-2 list (the removal of all or part of the elements and nutritional values that give the product its essential characteristics, in violation of regulations). Thus, the total number of products has risen to 1346.

LUXURY RESTAURANT DETAIL ON THE LIST

In the new list shared by the Ministry, a luxury restaurant located in Zorlu Center, in the heart of Istanbul, drew attention.

Counterfeit food was detected at the restaurant, which serves Italian cuisine. It was revealed that the mozzarella cheese, which was claimed to be made with 100 percent buffalo milk, contained cow's milk.

SUNFLOWER SEEDS IN BAKLAVA

It was also revealed that in pistachio baklava, one of the most beloved desserts of Turkish cuisine, sunflower seeds were used instead of pistachios in Istanbul, while in Afyonkarahisar, poultry meat and offal (head meat) were detected in heat-treated sucuk (sausage).
