Ministry exposes scandal in 3 provinces: Tongue found in sausage

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has shared the new results of its inspections conducted to protect public health with the public.

In the updated list dated October 22, 2025, food fraud in products such as sausage, pastry, tarhana, and lahmacun particularly drew attention.

SAUSAGE SCANDAL: LABELING GAME IN 3 PROVINCES

In the ministry's examinations, it was determined that some producers operating in the provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, and Aksaray used mechanically separated poultry meat, tongue, head, and gizzard offal in products they sold under the "beef sausage" label.

These fraudulent ingredients were detected in products belonging to the brands Afyon Keyf-i Sucuk, Afyonkarahisar Tütüncüoğlu, Afyonkarahisar Soylutürk, Afyon Güç Birliği, and Afyonkarahisar Kocatürk, all based in Afyonkarahisar.

The ministry announced the detailed list of fake ingredients and the batch numbers of the products to the public at the address "guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr".

NOT JUST SAUSAGE: THE LIST OF FRAUDULENT FOODS IS LONG

According to the inspection results, similar irregularities were encountered not only in meat products but also in many different food groups.

Banned food coloring in tarhana,

offal meat in minced meat pastry and beef meatballs,

foreign substances in spices,

imitation products in honey,

and poultry meat in lahmacun filling were found.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry warned consumers to pay particular attention to labels and producer information when shopping for food.
