Mümtaz'er Türköne, a figure with nationalist roots who has drawn attention with his recent calls for early elections, stated that Bahçeli's statements regarding İmamoğlu carry the meaning that "he should be released."

Making exclusive statements to Halk TV, Türköne claimed that Bahçeli's messages were directed at the AKP. "Bahçeli's texts are not read literally. This is an attempt to soften the environment," said Türköne. He emphasized that excessive displays of sympathy point to an underlying discomfort.

OCTOBER 22 IS ERDOĞAN'S MOVE, MARCH 19 IS BAHÇELİ'S

According to Türköne, while the move on October 22 was Erdoğan's maneuver against Bahçeli, a step that dynamited the solution process was taken on March 19. Türköne commented, "The March 19 process was the development that halted the solution process." Evaluating the transformation of the city consensus into a terror investigation in this context, he described it as "opening the gates of the castle and then retreating."

Stating that the March 19 operation was Erdoğan "shooting himself in the foot with a machine gun," Türköne noted that Erdoğan suffered a severe political wound with this move.

"With this momentum, whoever the CHP nominates will be close to winning," said Türköne, adding that Erdoğan must release İmamoğlu to regain political initiative.

Noting that the removal of Ahmet Türk from office and the appointment of a trustee, followed by his active role in the İmralı delegation, reflects a contradictory process, Türköne said, "Ahmet Türk is the symbol of both arbitrariness and the Erdoğan-Bahçeli conflict." The fact that Türk met with Bahçeli but did not take part in Erdoğan's delegation strengthened this argument.

Pointing out that this time the solution process is not only Turkey-centered but also dependent on a regional and global order, Türköne said, "A solution model that goes beyond Turkey's borders and where external dynamics are effective is being discussed. For this reason, Bahçeli's position and his search for a return to the rule of law are becoming critical."
