Müsavat Dervişoğlu reveals who threatened him: 'Those who invited Öcalan to Parliament...'
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu announced that he has received death threats due to his reactions regarding the new peace process. Dervişoğlu stated, "Those who threaten me are the ones who invited Öcalan to Parliament. This situation breaks my heart."
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu was a guest on the Başkent Kulisleri program broadcast on Sözcü TV.
Making significant assessments regarding the İmralı process, Dervişoğlu announced that he has received death threats.
Stating that he has received death threats due to his reactions to the new peace process, Dervişoğlu used the following expressions:
- It wounds me that those who invited Abdullah Öcalan to the parliamentary podium are threatening me because Müsavat Dervişoğlu opposed it.
- I have been receiving threats ever since I opposed this process. I am not saddened by those who throw stones at me, nor by the hand that holds the stone. I am saddened by thinking about the place that throws stones at me.
- Otherwise, I do not care at all. I do not want to be defined as the unruly child of politics.
- I do not want to be defined as someone who speaks and reacts solely with nationalist reflexes, and consequently, as someone who is blocking something that is supposedly going in the right direction.
- They are trying to keep me from my true path by trying to irritate me, knowing my character and anticipating that I will react harshly.
- I have long since passed the age to fall into such a trap. Otherwise, I would have lived through all this experience just to be shot down by a slingshot.
- It is never possible to accept such a thing. What truly breaks my heart is that if other organizations hostile to Turkey were to threaten me, it would not pose any problem; I would not care at all. I do not care about this either, but I am saddened by it.
- Those who cause this should think about it more than I do. Otherwise, I do not feel the need to respond to every remark. There are some remarks that you might be left under, and that happens in politics. It happens in Parliament, and I am expressing this. I mean, there is no need to make nonsensical statements just to respond to a correct remark. I am putting forward my own truths. If you have nothing to say in response to these truths of mine and you take the matter to threats, then one should not look at this as a situation for me to respond to.
