Özgür Özel reveals Kılıçdaroğlu's decision on Gürsel Tekin! 'I do not want to target anyone...'

The discussions in the CHP regarding the judicial process concerning the Istanbul Congress and the appointment of a trustee have accelerated the process for an extraordinary convention.

COURT DECISION ON TRUSTEE

The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance removed Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik and his team from office following allegations of irregularities in the CHP İstanbul Provincial Congress. The court appointed former deputy Gürsel Tekin as a trustee to replace Çelik. It is being discussed that this development could affect the course of the ongoing case in Ankara regarding the cancellation of the congress, which is set to be heard on September 15.

Following the trustee appointment, approximately one thousand delegates, excluding those whose delegate status in Istanbul was revoked, applied to the CHP Headquarters with notarized signatures to demand an extraordinary convention.

DATE FOR THE 22ND EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION ANNOUNCED

With the required number of signatures specified in the party bylaws reached, it was announced with the signature of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel that the 22nd Extraordinary Convention will be held in Ankara on Sunday, September 21, at 10:00 AM. At the convention, the party leadership will seek a vote of confidence from the delegates.

The CHP had also held an extraordinary convention in April against the possibility of a trustee, and Özel had taken the chairman's seat for the second time.

ÖZEL'S STATEMENT ON KILIÇDAROĞLU

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made evaluations regarding the "Absolute Nullity" case to be heard on September 15 and the decision for an extraordinary convention taken in response to this case. He also shared the details of his meeting with former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during this process.

“KEMAL BEY DID NOT GRANT AN APPOINTMENT TO THE ISTANBUL TRUSTEE”

Speaking to Sözcü newspaper Ankara Representative Saygı Öztürk, Özel stated the following:

“Kemal Bey did not grant an appointment to the Istanbul trustee. From now on, I do not consider it possible for him to accept the trusteeship. The party public is very sensitive about these issues. That is why one must speak carefully. I do not want to target anyone, because there is an outburst of anger for nothing. The party needs unity and integrity.

I called Kemal Bey recently. I invited him to our party's founding anniversary event. We had a very sincere conversation. Hopefully, these discussions will die down within a few days. Old and new, we will all protect our party together.”

“CONGRESS PROCESSES DO NOT STOP”

Özel also evaluated the latest decisions taken by the Supreme Election Council and used the following words:

“It is a step aimed at eliminating various possibilities in line with all the decisions taken. Namely; it says, ‘Even if a trustee comes, even if there is a court decision, congress processes cannot be interrupted.’ We will already complete the normal process by holding our congress at the end of November or the beginning of December. In this respect, this is already a positive situation.”
