Following the statement by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu that "the presidential election will likely be in 2027, that is what I think," the calculations made within the AKP for AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to be able to run again have emerged.

Nefes Gazetesi columnist Deniz Zeyrek, in his article titled "Intricate calculations for Erdoğan's candidacy," stated that early election plans are on the table within the AKP to allow Erdoğan to run for president again, and noted the following:

Stating that the team in question is acting in line with Erdoğan's knowledge and approval, Zeyrek continued as follows:

"There are a total of 592 deputies in the TBMM, including 12 independents (Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Hasan Bitmez have passed away. Can Atalay's parliamentary membership was revoked. Five deputies resigned for reasons such as ministerial or mayoral appointments).

328 of the 582 deputies belong to the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı). AK Party (272), MHP (47), HÜDA PAR (4), New Welfare Party (4), DSP (1).

In this picture, Erdoğan being able to run for parliament again depends on the TBMM taking a decision to 'renew elections' with 360 votes. However, it is not possible for the People's Alliance to take this decision with 328 votes. Consequently, they need 32 more votes."

According to what Zeyrek conveyed in his article, the primary goal of the ruling wing is to secure the support of independent deputies in Parliament. It is stated that the AKP has begun work by categorizing independent deputies into three groups: "yes," "no," and "persuadable." However, even if the support of only seven of these names is secured, the number remains at 335.

Noting that the DEM Party comes to the fore at this exact point, Zeyrek used the following expressions:

"It is at this exact point that AK Party members have turned their eyes to the DEM Party. If we look at those conducting the work, if the Turkey project proceeds smoothly until 2027, relations with the DEM Party will advance further, and at least 25-30 DEM deputies who will not deviate from the instructions of terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan will support the decision to renew elections. If the support from the DEM Party remains insufficient, attempts will be made to peel off new deputies from the New Path (Yeni Yol).

Consequently, an early election will be held in November 2027, and Erdoğan will be able to run again."
