Preparations for Öcalan within the PKK terrorist organization... Report commissioned: The organization views the call positively!

Following the call by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, DEM Party members Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan traveled to İmralı Island twice to meet with PKK ringleader Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned there.

Following these meetings, which took place with the expectation of a call for the organization to lay down its arms, the DEM Party delegation held contacts with numerous political actors, including MHP leader Bahçeli, CHP leader Özgür Özel, and the AKP leadership.

Ahmet Türk also participated in this process, though he was unable to join the second İmralı meeting due to health issues.

MAY BE DELAYED DUE TO TECHNICAL WORK

While no call to lay down arms came after the second meeting in İmralı, attention has turned to February 15. It is stated that the announcement, which has been expected since January, may be delayed by a few days from this date.

According to the report by Altan Sancar from Kısa Dalga, while there is no definitive information regarding the reason for the delay, sources stated that the call might be delayed "due to technical work."

However, it is stated that there is a strong possibility that the announcement will be made before the March 21 Newroz celebrations, and perhaps even before the end of February.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBILITIES FOR ÖCALAN?

On the other hand, it is reported that during the meetings in İmralı, PKK ringleader Öcalan told the delegation, "My freedom should not be a subject of bargaining for anyone."

Security sources, meanwhile, emphasize that Öcalan has not made any request to leave İmralı.

A source from the DEM Party, however, raises the possibility that in addition to the İmralı prison, a structure built during the "solution process" that ended in 2015, which was planned to be used for the visits of the "wise people" committee, could be used for Öcalan.

CLAIMS OF PREPARATION WITHIN THE PKK

Furthermore, according to information coming from various sources and confirmed by security units, preparations for the call are ongoing within the PKK.

It is reported that the organization has contacted its various "units" and requested certain reports. According to intelligence sources, the tendency to respond positively to Öcalan's potential call is prominent within the organization. Following Öcalan's call, the organization is expected to convene its "congress" and make a decision to lay down its arms.
