Pro-government media claims 'leak' before IMM operation! Prosecutor removed from duty...

The indictment for the investigation launched into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on March 19 over allegations of corruption and bribery has been accepted by the Istanbul 40th High Criminal Court, and the case has been opened.

While the trial date has not yet been set, a striking claim has emerged regarding the IMM investigation. It is alleged that the operation was leaked by a prosecutor before March 19.

According to a report by the pro-government newspaper Sabah, a prosecutor identified as S.Ç.S. met with Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, before March 19. It is alleged that during this meeting, the prosecutor provided Pehlivan with information regarding the operation.

It is claimed that cell tower records and witness statements were presented as evidence of the contact the prosecutor established with Pehlivan.

Furthermore, it is alleged that prosecutor S.Ç.S. had a warning-style conversation with one of the prosecutors conducting the IMM investigation. The report claims that the prosecutor told their colleague, "These files are problematic. They will come back to haunt you tomorrow."

DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS

The report stated that the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) has appointed inspectors to investigate the allegations. It was reported that footage obtained from hotel security cameras, HTS (historical traffic search) records, correspondence, and communication traffic were evaluated in detail as part of the investigation.

During the investigation conducted by the HSK, the testimony of prosecutor S.Ç.S. was also taken. It was noted that the prosecutor denied the accusations against them, stating that the witness testimonies did not reflect the truth.

On the other hand, the report also included the claim that prosecutor S.Ç.S., who was assigned to the Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been suspended from duty.
