Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen issues warning with specific times for snowfall

Following warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, heavy rain and snowfall are affecting the country.

Prof. Dr. Orhan Şen also issued warnings by providing specific timing for the snowfall that will affect many provinces, including Istanbul.

Announcing the 8 provinces where snowfall will be heavy, Şen noted that sleet will be effective in the higher elevations of Istanbul until noon.

"SNOW IS COMING TO ISTANBUL"

In a post on his social media account, Şen shared the following information:

"Today, Sunday, the coasts of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, Southeastern Anatolia, as well as Yalova and the Eastern Mediterranean coasts are rainy. Snow and sleet are expected in the west of Eastern Anatolia, and around Sakarya, Bolu, Niğde, Kayseri, Sivas, Karaman, Tokat, Gümüşhane, Erzurum, Muş, Bitlis, and Hakkari.

Temperatures will not change in Marmara, but will decrease significantly in the Inner and Southern Aegean, the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Central and Eastern Black Sea, and the west of Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia.

The wind will blow strongly from the north in the west and north, and from the south in Southeastern Anatolia. There is a risk of frost and icing in the inner and northern parts.

Istanbul will be rainy until noon, with sleet expected in higher areas of the Anatolian side such as Aydos, at 8°C. Temperatures are expected to be 11°C in Izmir, 14°C in Antalya, and 3°C in Ankara. Heavy snow is expected around Niğde, Kayseri, Sivas, Karaman, Tokat, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, and Erzurum."
