As part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on March 19 regarding corruption allegations against the IMM, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested and sent to prison on March 23.

Since March 19, operations against CHP-run municipalities have continued unabated. Over time, in addition to the IMM's affiliate companies, some metropolitan and district mayors were also arrested as part of various investigations.

Names such as Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar and Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek are also among those arrested.

Most recently, in the operations against CHP-run municipalities, Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney was taken into custody.

KONDA Research investigated citizens' perspectives on the operations against CHP-run municipalities in a survey conducted with 2,118 people in June.

MORE THAN 50 PERCENT SAID THE OPERATIONS ARE 'POLITICAL'

59 percent of those participating in the research stated that these operations were "carried out for political purposes to weaken the opposition."

41 percent of the participants expressed the opinion that the operations were "conducted within the scope of the fight against corruption."
