The AKP will hold a critical meeting next week to prepare for the second year of the 28th Legislative Term. Following the group meeting to be chaired by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, a closed-door group meeting will be held.
In this meeting, the roadmap regarding both the parliamentary group management and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Speaker election will be clarified.
AKP officials stated that the closed-door group meeting is planned to be held on Wednesday, May 22, and that it could spill over into Thursday morning, May 23, depending on the intensity of the schedule.
According to information obtained, no changes are foreseen for the group chairman and deputy chairmen.
AKP sources evaluating the matter stated, "Our colleagues are working with all their efforts toward parliamentary work. There is no need to change a system that is functioning without disruption." However, it was also conveyed that there might be some minor changes in the management of the TBMM commissions.
KURTULMUŞ AGAIN THE CANDIDATE FOR PARLIAMENT SPEAKER
Officials announced that the ruling party will nominate Numan Kurtulmuş again in the TBMM Speaker elections to be held in the new legislative term.
It was reported that the election process will begin on May 28 and will be completed on June 3 following the voting. Party sources stated that no surprises are expected regarding the candidacy, saying, "We will continue on our path with Mr. Numan."
