Scandalous claim! 10,000 TL reward for police officers on duty during protests
Police officers who served during the protests following the operation against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu were each paid a 10,000 TL reward. CHP member Murat Bakan described this situation as "part of an unlawful political operation."
CHP Deputy Chairman and İzmir MP Murat Bakan had read a message he received from a police officer during a live broadcast, stating that he had received information that the Ministry of Interior would provide a cash reward to police officers assigned to the demonstrations that began with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality operation and spread across the country.
According to the report in BirGün, the cash reward announced by CHP's Bakan has been deposited into the officers' accounts. Approximately 10,000 TL in "reward" money was deposited for police officers who served in the demonstrations in many cities.
In his statement, Bakan had said the following:
“The Ministry of Interior, through an announcement made via the POLNET system, has notified that a cash reward will be given to personnel who took part in social events within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. We say it clearly: The police do not sell the law of their state and the honor of their nation for a pittance of hush money! They will not be a tool for these political operations that trample on the law!”
