Successive warnings from AKOM... Both rain and mud are coming to Istanbul

A warning for the heavy rainfall that has been effective in Istanbul since the morning hours has also come from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM).

Following the warnings from the General Directorate of Meteorology, AKOM also issued a critical weather statement for Istanbul and the Marmara Region.

According to AKOM data, weather conditions across the Marmara region, especially in Istanbul, have come under the influence of a low-pressure system arriving via the Central Mediterranean and cool air coming from the Balkans.

PRECIPITATION BEGAN IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS

Heavy rainfall is expected to begin in Istanbul's western districts of Silivri and Çatalca as of 03:00 on Monday morning and to be locally strong throughout the province during the day. The precipitation is estimated to continue until the afternoon hours (15:00).

WILL LAST UNTIL WEDNESDAY, TEMPERATURES ARE DROPPING

According to forecasts, Istanbul and its surroundings will be under the influence of intermittent downpours and thunderstorms until Wednesday. Air temperatures are expected to range between 17 and 22 degrees and remain below seasonal norms.

Experts point out that dust transport originating from Africa is also occurring with this system.

A warning was issued that the rainfall expected in Istanbul, especially tonight and on Monday, could be muddy. Citizens were asked not to leave their vehicles outside and to secure their belongings in open areas.
