In the new process that began with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli shaking hands with DEM Party deputies at the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and his call for the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, the DEM Party Imralı Delegation met with terrorist leader Öcalan for the third time on February 27.

The 7-member delegation read Öcalan's call to lay down arms following the meeting. New details have emerged regarding the 3 meetings held between the DEM Party Imralı Delegation and terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.

According to a report by the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, there was intense traffic between Imralı and high-level state security units prior to Öcalan's call to lay down arms. It was learned that the call text went through several reviews and reached its final form on February 25.

The first photo of terrorist leader Öcalan in years also emerged from the third meeting. The microphone on the table in the photo did not go unnoticed.

According to the report, it was also stated that the visit made by the DEM Party delegation to Imralı the previous day to receive the call text was recorded by two separate cameras. It was learned that the small lapel microphone in the photo, where the Imralı delegation and Öcalan appear in the same frame, was placed on the table during the recording.

This recording was made while Öcalan was reading the call text he had penned in his own handwriting.

Following these developments, the public is curious about what will happen next. High-level security sources noted that the process to be followed from here on has also been determined. The entire process, up until the organization convenes its congress and makes a decision to disband, will be observed by the state. It is estimated that this process will take a maximum of 3-4 months, and that the second phase of the process could begin at the end of June. It is stated that visits to Imralı will continue during this period as well.

It was stated that until the congress is convened, a decision to disband is made, and concrete results are seen, the state will not take any steps, make any promises, or bring any conditions to the agenda. It was learned that technical details will be worked on after the disbandment.

Topics such as what will happen to the weapons in the organization's possession, how they will be registered, the departure of high-level organization leaders to third countries, and whether organization members who have no criminal record in the state or who have not participated in actions will return to Turkey will be addressed.

AKP sources stated that after all these processes are completed, some steps to be taken under the name of 'Democratic transformation of the state' could be opened for discussion on the floor of Parliament.

ERDOĞAN WILL GIVE A MESSAGE TODAY

All plans have also been made against potential negative developments and provocations during the disarmament and disbandment process. There will be no question of the state halting its counter-terrorism operations. Furthermore, no steps will be taken during this process that would hurt or upset the families of martyrs or that could mean an amnesty for Öcalan. It was stated that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will give important messages regarding a 'Terror-free Turkey' at an iftar program he will attend with the families of martyrs today.

CEASEFIRE STATEMENT FROM THE PKK

Following Öcalan's call to lay down arms, the terrorist organization PKK issued a ceasefire statement. In the statement, it was said, "We are complying with Öcalan's call." The organization also demanded that Öcalan preside over the congress and be released for the disbandment to take place.
