Pointing to the comments made by AKP members Şamil Tayyar and Mehmet Çek regarding the resignations, Saymaz's article continues as follows:

“The resignations will not be limited to eight chairs.

They are expected to continue in the coming days.

A figure close to Beştepe, speaking of corruption within the party, makes the following assessment:

'As a party stays in power for a long time, it turns into a government office and a private company. These provincial chairs have become the same. They spend all their time in Ankara following up on tenders or at ministerial appointments. They are chasing business deals and appointments rather than engaging in politics.

The AK Party has two major problems. One is that it has lost its moral immunity. The other is an army of the disgruntled. The largest army of the disgruntled is in the AK Party. Because only those with money and those who have acquaintances at the Headquarters are nominated.

The resignations have nothing to do with performance. If that were the case, the places that hit rock bottom would have been changed. Places where the biggest losses were experienced, such as Ankara, Samsun, and Yozgat, are not being touched. There is corruption. The AK Party is cleansing its bowels.'

The figure close to the AK Party notes that no investigation will be opened into the provincial chairs.

Meanwhile, AK Party MKYK member and Kadıköy mayoral candidate Veli Arslan was also quietly removed. Arslan, who is said to have major files against him, was asked to resign from the MKYK. Arslan resigned from his post, citing health reasons."
