It was alleged that CHP Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu would switch to the AKP on August 14, the anniversary of the AKP's founding.

The claim in question has become a major topic in politics. In addition to Çerçioğlu, it was claimed that the CHP mayors of Sultanhisar, Söke, and Yenipazar would also switch to the AKP.

While Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya announced that he would switch from the CHP to the AKP, saying "I will return to the nest," no official statement has yet come from the other mayors.

Yıldırımkaya, who left the Democrat Party in 2008 to join the AKP and was the party's candidate in the 2009 elections, had joined the ranks of the CHP in 2013 at the invitation of Özlem Çerçioğlu. Yıldırımkaya, who has been involved in politics within the CHP for about 12 years, announced his decision with the words, "I walked with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for 5 years. From now on, I will return to the nest."

The transfer claim regarding Çerçioğlu was denied by AKP Aydın Provincial Board Member Cumali Uçar. In his statement, Uçar said, "The rumor that Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu is changing parties or switching to the AK Party does not reflect the truth. We all know that Ms. Özlem Çerçioğlu cannot be with our People's Alliance stakeholders or our AK Party. To prevent misinformation for our AK Party organization and our valued citizens, we can say for certain that we have no such agenda."

In the continuation of his statement, Uçar reported that Sultanhisar Mayor Osman Yıldırımkaya and 13 council members would join the AKP.

STATEMENT REGARDING CUMALİ UÇAR ALSO CAME FROM THE AKP

Following Uçar's denial, a notable statement also came from the AKP Aydın Provincial Organization. In the press release published under the signature of AKP Aydın Provincial Chairman Mehmet Erdem, it was stated, "The person named Cumali Uçar has no duty, authority, or connection with the AK Party provincial presidency. The statements made by this person on social media accounts have absolutely no connection, relation, or contact with the AK Party Provincial Presidency and should not be given any credence."

While political circles are buzzing with news about Çerçioğlu and the AKP, it was alleged that Çerçioğlu was not answering her phone. A statement on the matter came from CHP officials.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, it was learned that a team from the CHP would go to Aydın today or tomorrow to meet with Çerçioğlu.

Stating that the final decision would be made after this meeting, CHP executives responded to reports that Çerçioğlu had resigned by saying, "We have not yet received a resignation decision."

"I HOPE SUCH A THING DOES NOT HAPPEN"

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın also made a statement to Sözcü TV regarding the issue, expressing that he could not reach Çerçioğlu.

Günaydın said, "I hope such a thing does not happen. Because we worked together in the CHP for years. The people of Aydın supported her. How is this happening? They go to the Mayor and say, 'If you don't change parties, you could be detained, we can do this through your companies.' Is this right? Is surrendering to this something to be defended? Are Zeydan Karalar or Ekrem İmamoğlu surrendering to this? I believe that no mayor should give in to this threat."

CHP Aydın DEPUTY BÜLBÜL HAD CONFIRMED

On the other hand, CHP Aydın Deputy Süleyman Bülbül had confirmed the allegations that Çerçioğlu would switch to the AKP in a statement he made to Sözcü TV last night.

Bülbül had stated that the mayors of Sultanhisar, Söke, and Yenipazar would also switch to the AKP.
