Traffic gridlocked in Istanbul: Congestion reported on both European and Asian sides

On the European side, congestion formed on the D-100 highway in the direction of Ankara in Avcılar, Bakırköy, Edirnekapı, the Haliç Bridge, Halıcıoğlu, and Çağlayan, while traffic is flowing smoothly in the direction of Edirne.

On the TEM Highway in the direction of Ankara, vehicles are moving slowly in some areas between the Mahmutbey Toll Booths and Seyrantepe and Kağıthane due to traffic.

Traffic congestion is being experienced on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, the Eurasia Tunnel, and their connecting roads for crossings from the Asian side to the European side.

On the Asian side, traffic is occasionally heavy on the D-100 highway in the direction of Edirne between Pendik and the Eurasia Tunnel, and in the direction of Ankara between Kozyatağı and Maltepe.

VEHICLES STRUGGLE TO MOVE

On the TEM Highway, traffic starting from Sancaktepe in the direction of Edirne extends as far as Ataşehir. In the direction of Ankara, vehicles are also struggling to move up to the Samandıra toll booths.

Due to the intermittent rainfall in the city, drivers are moving slowly in traffic, and there is also congestion at public transport stops, particularly where transfers are made.

According to data from the IMM Cep Trafik map, traffic density reached 51 percent on the European side and 67 percent on the Asian side, while the overall traffic density across the city rose to 58 percent.
