Warning from Meteorology: Heavy downpours coming this weekend

According to weather forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology, Turkey will be partly and, in some places, very cloudy on Friday, May 9. The weather, which is partly cloudy and sunny across Turkey in the morning hours, will turn into local precipitation as of the afternoon.

It is estimated that local downpours and thunderstorms will occur in the afternoon in the southeast of Marmara, the east of the Aegean, the inland parts of the Mediterranean, the northwest and east of Central Anatolia, the inland parts of the Western and Eastern Black Sea, the entirety of the Central Black Sea, the west and southeast of Eastern Anatolia, and the north of Southeastern Anatolia.

WATCH OUT FOR THE WEEKEND

According to the 5-day weather forecast from the Meteorology office, temperatures will drop rapidly and thunderstorms will be effective on Saturday, May 10, in Marmara, the Black Sea, the north of the Aegean, the northern provinces of Central Anatolia, and the north of Eastern Anatolia. The heavy rainfall is expected to continue on Sunday, May 11.

Air temperatures will continue to hover above seasonal norms. The wind is expected to blow generally from southern directions, light to occasionally moderate, and strong during precipitation in areas receiving rainfall.
