The whistleblower asked for their name to be kept secret, but... Secret witnesses and whistleblowers exposed in CHP Convention indictment

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared its indictment regarding the corruption investigation into the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Congress, held on November 4-5, 2023.

In the indictment, which includes accusations regarding the congress process, a prison sentence of up to 3 years and a political ban were requested for a total of 12 people on charges of "organized bribery and irregularities."

KILIÇDAROĞLU IS THE VICTIM, SAVAŞ IS THE COMPLAINANT

According to the report by Can Bursalı from Halk TV, former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is listed in the indictment as a "victim." Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfi Savaş, who filed a criminal complaint, is listed as a "complainant." Among the suspects are prominent names such as Ekrem İmamoğlu, Cemil Tugay, and Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.

In his statement given on April 21, 2025, a person identified as Ü.D., who appears in the indictment as a witness, stated that he applied to the prosecutor's office after becoming suspicious of transactions he saw at a currency exchange office. In his statement, Ü.D. explicitly said, "I do not want to be known by the people I am complaining about; I request that my statement remain confidential." However, the prosecutor's office included this statement in the indictment in its entirety, revealing Ü.D.'s identity.

WHISTLEBLOWER SAID 'KEEP MY NAME SECRET', IDENTITY PUBLISHED

One of the striking parts of the indictment was the exposure of whistleblowers along with their full names and e-mail information. A person named C.A.K., who applied to the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau on March 14, 2025, sent a whistleblower e-mail saying, "I am C.A.K., I request that my name remain secret." C.A.K. used expressions such as, "The CHP does not deserve these things. There is no end to the phones and money given to the delegates. Relatives of those who voted were hired." However, the prosecutor's office included this e-mail in the indictment along with the whistleblower's name.

THE OTHER WHISTLEBLOWER WAS NOT PROTECTED EITHER

The indictment also included another whistleblower e-mail sent on March 25, 2025, which also reached the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau. A person who did not write their name stated, "I request that my name remain secret. The events happening in the CHP have started to bother all of us. I want you to examine this file well." However, it was noted that the prosecutor's office clearly wrote the person's e-mail address in the indictment.

It was revealed that the two whistleblower e-mails in question were sent after the criminal complaint filed by Lütfi Savaş on February 25, 2025.
