Witness testimonies in the Rezan Epözdemir case revealed! Allegations of a 150 thousand dollar bribe had been widely discussed: 'This meeting is in the correspondence,' he said

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued a detention order for lawyer Rezan Epözdemir within the scope of two different investigations on charges of "bribery," "political and military espionage," and "aiding the FETÖ/PDY terrorist organization."

Teams from the Financial Crimes and Counter-Terrorism branches searched Epözdemir's home and his office in Levent.

TESTIMONY OF WITNESS A.D.

A.D., who testified as a witness within the scope of the investigation, stated that 7 of his vehicles were seized in the past due to an investigation known in the public eye as the "Change vehicle file."

Stating that one of the vehicles was imported legally, A.D. reported that he met with the prosecutor of the file at the time, C.Ç., for the return of this vehicle, but his request was rejected.

ALLEGATION OF "VEHICLE LIEN REMOVED FOR 50 THOUSAND EUROS"

A.D. claimed that C.Ç. recommended Rezan Epözdemir to him as a lawyer. In his testimony, he said, "Epözdemir told me that he was a friend of prosecutor C.Ç. and that 50 thousand euros were requested to remove the liens on the vehicles. He stated that they would split the money. I gave the 50 thousand euros in cash. A few days later, the lien on my vehicle was removed."

ALLEGATION OF "PROMISE OF RELEASE FOR 150 THOUSAND DOLLARS"

A.D. alleged that a bribe negotiation also took place during the 2021 "Macaron" operation. Stating that Nurbari Erşahin, a suspect in this file, asked him for help, A.D. said the following:

"Prosecutor C.Ç. and Epözdemir said they could secure a release in exchange for 150 thousand dollars. We gave 75 thousand dollars in advance. C.Ç. stated that after receiving the money, he would take it to Rezan. This meeting was included in our WhatsApp correspondence."
