THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR ISTANBUL FROM AKOM
AKOM announced that a low-pressure system coming from the Central Mediterranean is expected to be effective across the Marmara Region, especially in Istanbul. It issued a warning for heavy rainfall across the province, particularly around the Bosphorus on the Anatolian side and throughout the European side, starting from 10:00 AM on Monday.
The IMM Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) has warned against heavy, locally thundery rainfall that will be effective across Istanbul starting tomorrow morning. Accordingly, due to the low-pressure system carrying warm and humid air from the south to the Marmara Region, temperatures are expected to hover around 14-17 degrees, which is above seasonal norms. However, it stated that as of 10:00 AM on Monday, heavy (20-40kg/m2) and locally thundery rainfall will occur throughout the province, particularly on the European side and around the Bosphorus on the Anatolian side.
EXPECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL WEDNESDAY EVENING
According to the warning issued by AKOM, while the rainfall is expected to continue intermittently in Istanbul until Wednesday evening, citizens were warned to be prepared and cautious against potential negative consequences due to the locally heavy rainfall.
