Sharp response from Gökhan Zan to Lütfü Savaş: 'Didn't you whitewash your contractors?'

Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, who was met with calls for his resignation by citizens during commemoration ceremonies in Hatay on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, had targeted former football player Gökhan Zan. 

In his statement announcing that he would not withdraw from his candidacy, Savaş pointed to the protesters and said, "There was a Gökhan Zan who mobilized them." 

Savaş had claimed, "When Gökhan Zan retired from football, I embraced him. I employed him in my football team like a salaried employee. We were the ones who provided his testimony. There was no resentment between us. Whatever happened, happened with Volkan coach coming to Hatay."

SHARP RESPONSE FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

Responding to Savaş with a statement on his social media account, Zan said, "Didn't you whitewash your 'idealist' contractors, who bear the burden of thousands of people, in the very first days of the earthquake?"

Zan included the following statements in his explanation:

"INSTEAD OF FIGHTING..."

In response to my esteemed elder, Mr. Mayor Lütfü Savaş;

First of all, I would like to state that I watched the accusations you leveled against me with astonishment, and as a son of these lands, I was even more saddened on behalf of the people of Hatay.  

Just as I will not deny your contributions to me as a state elder, I cannot understand what bothered you so much about me receiving the compensation for my labor as someone who worked alongside you.

That you were subjected to such a protest by the people of Hatay on the first anniversary of the earthquake saddened me more than anyone else.

However, the reason for these protests is not ME, but your insistence on arguing with your own voters, your failure to be by our side during our most difficult times, and your severing of the bond with us on the path from heart to heart, and leaving us ALONE instead of FIGHTING for us.

Furthermore, in Hatay, which is a symbol of different cultures, YOU are the one who burns our unity and solidarity, who signs wrong decisions, and who turns your back on us!

Moreover, these protests against you are not new; they started on the very first day your candidacy was announced. In other words, it has NOTHING to do with me!

So much so that using my esteemed coach and brother Volkan Demirel, who has nothing to do with the incident, who worked day and night during the earthquake, and who put his hand under the stone for Hatay, as an excuse is an INSULT both to him and to his place in the hearts of the people.

Anyway, your never-ending production of political discourse against society in the language of the place you come from is not about walking the path with the HATAY PEOPLE whose hearts have not been touched by evil, but about walking the path with those who are in negligence, error, and even betrayal.

Moreover, YOU know best that I have nothing to do with you being protested, and that I did not perform the 'golden scissors' openings with IDEALIST THIEVES!

Did you ever hold the hand of a Hatay resident at any commemoration? Did you put your hand on our shoulder? Did you hug us sincerely and genuinely?

As an ELECTED official, aren't you doing the greatest harm to Hatay and the people of Hatay by consuming the energy of our fellow citizens with polemics and within an ideology of betrayal?

Weren't you brought before us as a COMPULSORY candidate even in the political arena you belong to?

"DIDN'T YOU WHITEWASH YOUR IDEALIST CONTRACTORS"

Aren't those who had new polls conducted because the polls conducted about you due to your political scandals were not deemed sufficient, the members of your own POLITICAL HOUSE!

Didn't you whitewash your IDEALIST contractors, who bear the burden of thousands of people, in the very first days of the earthquake?

Our only wish was to silently MOURN for those we lost when the clocks struck exactly 04:17. Unfortunately, as this was not possible, you did not stand by us either.

Our expectation from you was merely that you could TOUCH the wounded hearts that had experienced heavy destruction, even if just a little. That was exactly what we needed, but it didn't happen, you didn't do it.

"THE FINAL WORD WILL BELONG TO THE PEOPLE OF HATAY"

Instead of producing excuses with your identity as a politician who knows his guilt and accusing us of provocation, you should have known that your personal ambitions, preferences, and desires would one day shatter upon colliding with the shield of NATIONAL WILL.

I WISH you could have said, "Let us all struggle together to restore the TURKISH homeland of Hatay, which was not left to the enemy forty years ago, to its former glorious days and to REVIVE and REBUILD it; let Hatay be our PERSONAL MATTER."

I want you to know that the final word will of course belong to the PEOPLE OF HATAY.

Öncelikle şunu belirtmek isterim ki, şahsıma karşı atfettiğiniz suçlamaları şaşkınlıkla izledim ve bu toprakların bir evladı olarak Hataylılar adına daha çok üzüldüm.
