Greek elements collide with and damage Turkish fisherman's boat off the coast of Gökçeada
Greek elements collided with and damaged a fisherman's boat that was fishing near the Zürafa Rocks off the coast of Gökçeada, Çanakkale.
İlker Özdemir went to the waters off the Zürafa Rocks to fish with his 12-meter boat named "Kızıl Elma".
During this time, Greek elements collided with Özdemir's boat with their own vessel, causing damage.
Özdemir and his son, Efe Özdemir, who was with him, called the 112 Emergency Health line to report the situation. Following this, 3 boats belonging to the Coast Guard Command were dispatched to the region.
Özdemir and his son attempted to bail out the water that began to slowly enter the boat due to the impact of the collision.
Coast Guard teams arriving at the scene provided initial medical intervention to Özdemir and his son, who were injured due to the breaking of the boat's windows.
The boat was then towed by 2 Coast Guard boats and set off toward the Kaleköy Port of Gökçeada.
In a video he shared regarding the incident, fisherman Özdemir stated, "The Greek boat hit our boat with their own vessel. Our boat is in this condition, thank God it is not taking on water. We are 4 miles away from the Zürafa Rocks. We are in the Blue Homeland, we are in international waters. They came, they couldn't stomach it, they hit us. We are in this state while pulling our gear, and they fled. Unfortunately, our boat took a hit, we cannot move."
