Group meeting crisis in CHP: 'Kılıçdaroğlu banned it, saying I have no instruction'
The dual leadership and authority crisis that emerged in the CHP following the court's "absolute nullity" ruling has moved to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
The dual leadership and authority crisis that emerged in the CHP following the court's "absolute nullity" ruling has moved to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). The CHP Parliamentary Group made an official application to the Speaker of the Parliament for the weekly regular group meeting, where the elected Chairman Özgür Özel was set to speak. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the chairmanship by court order, strictly banned the meeting in an official letter sent to the deputies.
While administrative and legal debates remain heated within the Republican People's Party (CHP), all eyes have turned to the group meeting to be held in Parliament tomorrow. Elected Chairman Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who took the seat by court order, have come face to face regarding the will and management of the party's TBMM group.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL: "THE GROUP MEETING WILL BE HELD TOMORROW AS ANNOUNCED"
The CHP Parliamentary Group processed the schedule by applying to the Speaker of the Parliament for the TBMM Group Meeting planned for tomorrow. In the application, it was reported that the elected Chairman of the CHP and also Group President Özgür Özel would take the podium at 13:30 to address the deputies and the public.
Responding to journalists' questions on the subject, Özgür Özel emphasized that it is legally and practically impossible for them to encounter any obstruction, and made the following statement:
"There is no negative feedback that has reached us, nor could there be. The CHP Group is here. Even while Parliament is in session, a group meeting can be held with a verbal call. The Group Meeting at 13:30 will be held tomorrow as announced."
BAN LETTER FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU TO DEPUTIES: "NO GENERAL ASSEMBLY CAN BE HELD WITHOUT MY INSTRUCTION"
In response to this move by the Özgür Özel camp in Parliament, a harsh counter-move came from the camp of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the chairmanship by court order. In an official letter sent to all CHP deputies signed by Kılıçdaroğlu, the meeting was blocked by arguing that the date of the group meeting had not yet been determined.

In the warning letter sent to the deputies, Kılıçdaroğlu used the following expressions:
“As per my instruction, the TBMM CHP Group General Assembly will not be held unless the necessary notifications are made.”
As the time for the group meeting, which is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 13:30, approaches, it is awaited with curiosity how the deputies will act in line with these conflicting decisions of the two leaders and what will happen in the group hall in Parliament.
