Group meeting duel in CHP: Accreditation numbers for Özel and Kılıçdaroğlu revealed
A striking detail has emerged ahead of the CHP group meeting, which both Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel announced would be held at the same time. While the Özel camp applied for accreditation for 4,400 people and the Kılıçdaroğlu camp for 1,400, security measures have been increased following reports that approximately 6,000 people could be present in Parliament.
It was announced that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the chairmanship following the absolute nullity decision in the CHP, will speak at the group meeting today at 13:30.
Elected Chairman Özgür Özel announced that he would cancel his Manisa program and hold the group meeting himself, stating, "We cannot hand over the podium to an appointee; I will speak at the group meeting."
Özel said, "They heard I was going to Manisa, so they decided to hold a group meeting. They saw the anniversary of Ferdi Zeyrek's death as an opportunity! I will hold the group meeting tomorrow. I will commemorate Ferdi Zeyrek at the podium. I invite our party members to tomorrow's group meeting."
Following the mutual moves by both sides, all eyes have turned to the TBMM today.
ÖZEL CAMP APPLIED FOR 4,400 PEOPLE, KILIÇDAROĞLU SIDE FOR 1,400
It is eagerly awaited who will take the podium at the group meeting announced for the same place and time. In the lobbies, it is being discussed that approximately 20 deputies are expected to support Kılıçdaroğlu, while the number of deputies supporting the elected Chairman Özgür Özel could exceed 100.
A striking detail has emerged regarding the accreditation applications made by the parties to the TBMM Speaker's Office for the 13:30 meeting.
Journalist Barış Terkoğlu, speaking on Onlar TV, said that the Özgür Özel camp had applied for accreditation for 4,400 people. It was learned that this number is 1,400 on the Kılıçdaroğlu side.
It was stated that if no restrictions are placed on these figures, 6,000 people could be present in the TBMM.
SECURITY MEASURES INCREASED IN TBMM
It was learned that security measures in Parliament have been increased due to potential tensions that may arise.
It was stated that security personnel working in the TBMM were called to an emergency meeting, and that receiving additional personnel support from the Ankara Provincial Security Directorate is also being evaluated if needed.
According to claims voiced in ruling party lobbies, some restrictions on visitor entries have also come to the agenda in order to prevent potential problems in Parliament.
EVALUATION UNDERWAY FOR VISITOR ENTRIES
Among the options being considered by the parliamentary administration is allowing only deputies, authorized personnel, and members of the press into the TBMM, except in extraordinary circumstances.
In this context, it is stated that temporarily suspending visitor entries is also being evaluated.
It was expressed that officials are working on different scenarios to ensure that unwanted incidents do not occur in Parliament.
