Gülistan Doku's sister reveals why she was murdered! 'They are forcing our daughter into something bad...'

In the process regarding the Gülistan Doku file, which was reopened after six years, the family's statements have once again become a topic of public discussion. Gülistan Doku's sister appeared on a Halk TV broadcast to share her assessments of the investigation and leveled striking allegations.

ASSESSMENT AND CALL REGARDING THE INVESTIGATION

Speaking after the reopening of the file of Munzur University student Gülistan Doku, who went missing in Tunceli on January 5, 2020, Aygül Doku stated that the latest steps taken are important. However, she also argued that action should be taken against the then-Governor of Tunceli, Tuncay Sonel, in order to solve the case.

Aygül Doku made the following statements in her explanation:

“The step taken by our Minister of Justice, Mr. Akın Gürlek, and the fact that our Chief Public Prosecutor, Ms. Ebru Cansu, is searching for evidence of Gülistan as if digging a well with a needle, is very valuable. We find this step very valuable. But as much as this valuable step, our Minister of Interior also needs to take a step right now. When Tuncay Sonel is tried, arrested, and taken into custody in this file, the case will be solved. All the threads already lead back to him.”

OBJECTION TO THE “SUICIDE” CLAIM

Stating that the family has opposed the “suicide” claim since the very first day, Aygül Doku recounted what happened when they first arrived in Tunceli:

“Then, when we first arrived in this city, the then-governor Tuncay Sonel immediately rushed us to the bridge. He said, ‘Your daughter committed suicide.’ We have been saying this since the first day. Look, I have been repeating it like a parrot for 7 years. We said our daughter did not commit suicide.”

PROCESS CONDUCTED VIA SIM CARD

One of the notable topics in the program was the account regarding the SIM card registered in the name of Gülistan Doku's mother. Aygül Doku explained the process that followed their decision to get a copy of the line in order to reach her sister:

“Look, we owe all this information of ours, the operation of Chief Prosecutor Ebru Cansu that night, to that SIM card anyway. You calculate everything, you make all your plans, but Almighty God also has a plan. Their plan is ruined there.”

“Tuncay Sonel and his team rushed to us in a panic. They said, ‘What are you doing?’ He got angry and said, ‘Give me the card.’ He said, ‘I have many acquaintances in Ankara.’ He said, ‘These acquaintances of mine in Ankara will bring this information, and I will find Gülistan.’ We handed the card to him personally in his office.”

Doku also stated that this handover process was recorded with an official letter.

Aygül Doku stated that she was sharing some allegations for the first time on the program and said that Umut Altaş had tried to reach her:

“Look, I am revealing these for the first time. Because we really have no patience left. Umut Altaş called me during that process. He called me 2-3 times to reach me.”

Aygül Doku also shared the following regarding their conversation:

“Do you know what Umut said to me? ‘Sister, I know a lot of things. I will help you. I am from Tunceli, I wouldn't even hurt an ant,’ he said.”

Aygül Doku also made various allegations regarding Umut Altaş's parents, Celal Altaş and Nurşen Altaş:

“‘Our son has only one crime: he is friends with the governor's dirty son,’ they said. There are audio recordings.”

BENEFITS IN EXCHANGE FOR SILENCE

Aygül Doku also made allegations that Celal Altaş and Nurşen Altaş withheld information and received benefits in exchange for their silence.

In this context, she used the following expressions:

“When Tuncay Sonel's duty was transferred to Ordu, Governor Mehmet Ali Özkan came here. We were still continuing the search efforts for Gülistan in the water. While we were continuing the search efforts, Celal Altaş and his family went to Ordu to visit the governor. They even took photos. They went on vacation. Those who are currently in custody, Celal Altaş and Nurşen Altaş, are the ones who ate Gülistan's blood money in exchange for silence.”

“These people, in exchange for silence, in exchange for covering up this murder... What does the governor do? He feeds them, he gives them drinks, and he feeds them Gülistan's blood money.”

"THEY ARE FORCING GÜLİSTAN INTO SOMETHING..."

Among the allegations voiced in the program were statements that Gülistan Doku was being forced into something and was murdered because she did not accept it:

“They are forcing Gülistan into something. Like, if you don't do this, okay? If you don't do this... They are threatening Gülistan with something. They are forcing her into something bad. And because our daughter did not accept this, and because our daughter said, ‘I will expose you,’ they murdered Gülistan.”

FORMER POLICE OFFICER AND FOOTAGE ALLEGATION

Aygül Doku also shared her allegations regarding a former police officer mentioned in the investigation:

"Gökhan said, ‘Gülistan was not murdered that day. Footage of Gülistan was in the car that day, I deleted that footage,’ he said. ‘They didn't even murder Gülistan that night,’ he said."

Doku also claimed that money was sent to this person to have the footage deleted:

“Gökhan already became a confessor. Gökhan said, ‘They will burn me.’ He said, ‘I have a son, I just want to serve my sentence, I did not commit this murder.’”

PUBLIC CALL

While it was recalled in the program that Tuncay Sonel had previously made statements claiming “slander is being committed,” Aygül Doku made the following call:

“I am in front of the Tunceli Courthouse. If I am slandering, let him come and let's talk in front of the Turkish public. Go ahead.”

ALLEGATION REGARDING HOSPITAL RECORDS

Aygül Doku also claimed that Gülistan Doku might have been taken to the hospital and that some records were deleted:

“Look, Gülistan's tests were deleted. I mean, this is not from the file, but it is information I heard, let me say that. But no rumor is just a rumor. I know it's not a rumor because of this; because in the early period, Engin Yücel was also dwelling on this person who deleted Gülistan's tests. Engin Yücel couldn't explain the incident but he always threw it in front of us, saying, ‘Gülistan's tests were deleted.’ Now, after they shot Gülistan, it is highly probable that Gülistan was wounded. They took Gülistan to the hospital. When they couldn't save Gülistan there, they deleted Gülistan's hospital records. Tuncay Sonel also deleted Gülistan's hospital records.”

CAMERA RECORDS AND SEARCH EFFORTS

Aygül Doku also made allegations regarding the camera records of the night of the incident:

“Look, the whole ‘you commit suicide’ thing... Even all these things about Gülistan, look, Gülistan's hand gesture, I mean, to distract the public, these hand gestures are all a scenario. At that moment, they are turning the direction of all the cameras in that city. By turning their direction, they say Gülistan committed suicide so that the question of what happened to Gülistan does not arise. They used to say the scissors appeared, this and that appeared. Those are all part of the scenario...”

Regarding the search efforts, she used the following expressions:

“Yes, the dam was drained for 220 days. Look, the diver brothers who were honest with us during this process were the ones. Through you, we thank them a thousand, a thousand times for their efforts. Look, our diver brothers were diving into the water and coming out, especially the Van team said after a week: ‘Brother, Gülistan will not come out of here, this water is stagnant.’ All the teams were saying, ‘Gülistan will not come out of here. This governor is deceiving you, he is stalling you. Go look for your daughter somewhere else.’”

INSTRUCTION TO DIVERS AND ALLEGATION OF A PLAN TO GO ABROAD

Aygül Doku also claimed that instructions were given not to provide information to the diver teams:

"Tuncay Sonel finally gathered all the divers and said, ‘You will absolutely not give any information to the family in any way.’”

She also claimed that a plan was made for Gülistan Doku and used the following expressions:

“They tell Gülistan that we will send you to Russia. Because all of this is in the messages Zainal sent today. He tells Gülistan to go to the Russian Consulate. Wait for me there, I will come there. He says we will make it look like you committed suicide. I will take you abroad. I will come to you. Zainal is making this plan. By making this plan, Zainal throws Gülistan in front of Tuncay Sonel's son, Mustafa Türkay Sonel, and Umut.”
