Hail and heavy rain hit, disrupting daily life

Intense hail and heavy rain that began at noon in the Demirci district of Manisa brought life to a standstill in the town center and its surroundings. Due to the hazelnut-sized hailstones, streets and fields were quickly covered in a white blanket.

Drivers on the road, in particular, experienced difficult moments due to the severe downpour. Reduced visibility and the accumulation of hail on the roads made it difficult for drivers to proceed.

On the other hand, it was stated that agricultural lands in regions of Demirci, where approximately 20 thousand tons of cherries are produced annually, were also negatively affected by the hail. Following the precipitation, three teams from the Demirci District Directorate of Agriculture began inspections in the fields and initiated damage assessment efforts.

While authorities continue to inform farmers about potential damages, it was reported that the hail lost its effect as weather conditions returned to normal.
