Hakan Fidan's call: 'The PKK must lay down its arms immediately!' 'Either voluntarily or otherwise'

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan continues his meetings in Qatar, where he is visiting for official talks.

Fidan met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, in the Qatari capital, Doha.

Following their bilateral meeting, Minister Fidan and his counterpart Al-Thani held a joint press conference.

"THE PKK MUST LAY DOWN ITS ARMS IMMEDIATELY"

Delivering significant messages at the meeting, Fidan touched upon the fight against terrorism and emphasized, "The PKK must lay down its arms immediately."

Highlights from Fidan's speech are as follows:

"While Israel commits genocide against Palestinians, it is also murdering the conscience of humanity and international law.

We want a ceasefire to be re-established in Gaza, humanitarian aid to enter the region, and a mutual exchange of hostages and detainees. The key to a fair and lasting solution is a two-state solution. We will continue to work for the Palestinian and Israeli peoples to live in peace.

We are continuing our cooperation for the reconstruction of Syria. Both Turkey and Qatar are making efforts for the lifting of sanctions. We discussed the additional support we can provide to the Syrian administration. Our principles regarding Syria are clear. We do not accept the carrying of arms outside of the central authority in Syria. We do not accept terrorist organizations.

We do not accept any initiative that would prevent a system where citizens, on the basis of constitutional guarantees, are equal and can express their own identities.

We want to see a situation where equal opportunities are provided to all groups in the country, including Turks, Sunnis, Nusayris, Turkmens, Arabs, and Druze.

We expect the agreement signed in recent months between the YPG and the administration in Syria to be implemented. At the same time, we expect the PKK, as an organization, to respond positively to the call made as soon as possible, to lay down its arms, and to cease being an obstacle to a return to normalcy in our region.

Just as DAESH was removed from the system, the PKK will also be removed from the system. Either it will leave voluntarily, in peace and tranquility, or it will leave in another way."
