A striking development has occurred in the investigation into the death of Isak Andic, the founder of the Spanish fashion giant Mango.

According to a report in the Financial Times, the billionaire businessman's son, Jonathan Andic, was detained in Spain as part of an investigation into his father's death during a mountain hike in 2024.

Catalan police confirmed that Jonathan Andic, who managed the Spanish fashion company in the mid-2010s, was detained on Tuesday.

It was stated that Jonathan Andic was subsequently arrested.

The report included information that Jonathan Andic was photographed in handcuffs in front of a courthouse in Martorell, near Barcelona, on Tuesday.

Isak Andic, who held both Turkish and Spanish citizenship, served as the founder and chairman of the board of Mango.

According to Forbes data, at the time of his death, Andic was among the wealthiest individuals in Spain with a fortune of approximately 4.5 billion Euros.

95 PERCENT OF THE COMPANY IS HELD BY THE FAMILY

It was stated that Jonathan Andic and his two sisters own 95 percent of Mango's shares.

The remaining 5 percent of the company is reportedly owned by CEO Toni Ruiz.

It was noted that while Jonathan Andic served on the board of directors, he did not hold an active role on the company's executive committee.

NEW STATEMENT FROM THE FAMILY

The Andic family had previously maintained in their statements that the incident that caused Isak Andic's death was an accident.

In a statement released by the family on Tuesday, the following remarks were made:

“The competent authorities have requested an explanation from Jonathan Andic regarding the accident on December 14, 2024. He continues to cooperate fully with the judicial processes. This process is under judicial secrecy; we have nothing further to say at this time.”

HIS FATHER HAD MADE HIM CEO, THEN REMOVED HIM

During his time at the helm of the company, Isak Andic had given his son, Jonathan Andic, increasing responsibilities.

Jonathan Andic was appointed CEO of the company in 2014. However, it was noted that following rising losses, Isak Andic took back control and appointed Toni Ruiz as CEO in 2020.

It was stated that Jonathan Andic later served as the head of the Mango Man menswear division, but left this position in 2025.
