Harsh reaction from the Palace to İmamoğlu's statements: 'It is a great slander. They are struggling, wishing he would engage with them'

A swift response came from the Presidency to the statements made by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. İmamoğlu had claimed that Erdoğan was trying to remove him from politics.

In response to these claims, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated that associating judicial processes with the President is a great slander.

In his statement, Altun said, "The constant attempt by opposition politicians to associate legal processes regarding matters that have been referred to the independent judicial bodies of our state with our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is both a great slander against our President and an effort to undermine judicial processes."

HARSH CRITICISM FROM ALTUN

Targeting İmamoğlu, Altun said, "Those types who, because they cannot find even a crumb in their bag in terms of serving the nation, slander and insult everyone they come across, who have made it a habit to try to occupy the agenda with all sorts of delusions to hide their dirty political calculations and relationships, and who, instead of doing their job and serving their city, struggle every day saying 'I wish Tayyip Erdoğan would engage with me,' should know that..."

Altun emphasized that President Erdoğan's political struggle spans nearly half a century and that such slanders cannot wear Erdoğan down.

Furthermore, reminding that Erdoğan won a clear victory in the 2023 elections, he said, "Our nation made its choice in the 2023 elections, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, whom you all lined up against, defeated all of you clearly at the ballot box."

Finally, Altun advised those making accusations against Erdoğan to better understand the President and to turn back from these mistakes.
