Harsh words for Özgür Özel from MHP figure: 'You walk around calling yourself a man'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at an event yesterday regarding the dismissal of former MHP MP Olcay Kılavuz from his position as a group advisor, saying:

A person who was a deputy in the previous term and a fourth-place parliamentary candidate in this term has had their employment terminated while serving as a group advisor. One must look at which party someone with information and documents goes to, what procedures are carried out in that party, what is being discussed, and what is being prevented from being discussed.

"SO THE PARTY DOES NOT GET MIXED UP"

Some factions within the Nationalist Movement Party want to fight with the Republican People's Party. Because when the Nationalist Movement Party does not fight with the CHP, a problem becomes more visible internally. They are trying to create an enemy, fight, and focus attention there. My focus, however, is on the children and wife of Sinan Ateş, who was gunned down by street dealers in the middle of the capital, and I am fighting against the mentality that left that funeral on the ground just so an alliance or a party would not get mixed up and there would be no arguments. They cannot hide their responsibilities by fighting with me. In order not to cast suspicion on a large community and a party as a whole, whoever is related to the issue in that party must be held accountable. A few months ago, when the former deputy's name was mentioned, they called it a setup. The dismissal took place yesterday or the day before, following Mr. Yerlikaya's visit. Dismissal, or terminating the party's group advisory position, is not a way of holding someone accountable. Courts hold people accountable on behalf of us all."

"YOU WALK AROUND CALLING YOURSELF A MAN"

MHP's Yönter quoted Özgür Özel's comments on the Sinan Ateş murder regarding Olcay Kılavuz on his social media account, tagged Özel, and used the following expressions: 

"Özgür, I told you to prove your allegations; I wrote that if you don't prove them, you are base and dishonorable... I stand by my words... There is still not a peep from you; you continue in the same old way... You hope for help from lies, you walk around with a dagger of betrayal in your hand calling yourself a man... Özgür, you must prove your allegations... If you don't, you are a coward..."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech at his party's group meeting regarding the assassination of Sinan Ateş, emphasized that he knew who wrote the questions Bahçeli directed at him, stating, "Among the questions are things like 'Should Kurdistan be established, what do you say?' Mr. Bahçeli turned and read these from a teleprompter. I know who wrote these on that teleprompter. That famous duo, the duo that the MHP organization is fed up with. The duo that makes real MHP members' skin crawl. That person who writes texts in the MHP, who tweets at night with a phone in one hand and a glass in the other, and that other person who says 'I am the Parliament's expert sergeant' but doesn't even keep the promises made to an expert sergeant—those two wrote four questions on the teleprompter. 'Read them, Mr. Bahçeli, let Özgür Özel answer.' I won't read those four questions, but Mr. Bahçeli, let those insolent copywriters who wrote these questions for you answer these four questions." 

In the question he directed at MHP leader Bahçeli, Özel had asked, "How and by whom were the names of these two people removed from the Sinan Ateş indictment?"

MHP Deputy Chairman Yönter, reacting to Özel's accusations regarding the Sinan Ateş murder, stated, "If you do not prove the allegations you pronounced in the form of a question yesterday regarding the murder indictment in question, in which we have not even the slightest interest or connection, you are base, immoral, dishonorable, and unscrupulous."
