He addressed Erdoğan before resigning: 'They are doing the greatest harm by not conveying the truth to our President'

In the March 31 Local Elections, the Şehitkamil Municipality had passed from the AKP to the CHP. AKP District Chairman Mehmet Yılmaz claimed that the incumbent mayor Rıdvan Fadıloğlu, the candidate put forward by Erdoğan, had clearly stated before the elections that he did not want to be a candidate, but that they lost the district knowingly by forcing his candidacy.

Announcing his resignation at a press conference, Yılmaz stated, "They are doing the greatest harm by not conveying the truth to our President. They are still continuing to design the party."

"THEY DID NOT PRESENT THE REAL POLL"

According to the report by Artı Gerçek, Yılmaz said, "At the high board meeting chaired by our President, the General Headquarters Local Administrations President Erkan Kandemir presented to our President not the real poll regarding the candidate, but a high-rate poll they had determined themselves.

Despite this process, as an organization, we respected the final decision of our headquarters and were in the field day and night during the election process.

We carried out a very diligent election campaign. All our work is available on both our party's and our candidates' social media accounts. It is also included in our party archive," he said.

"THEY CONTINUE TO DESIGN THE PARTY"

Arguing that AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was not informed correctly, Yılmaz said, "In the provincial chairmanship interview held yesterday, I saw once again that the General Headquarters Organization President Erkan Kandemir and Coordinator Deputy Hakan Kahtalı are still not telling the truth about Gaziantep to our President.

They do not even accept that they were the main actors in the wrong candidate selection process that caused the loss of many districts in Gaziantep.

Instead of informing our President correctly, they continue to design the party," he said.

"I CANNOT ACCEPT THE POINT WE HAVE REACHED"

Claiming that some officials at the Party Headquarters did not inform Erdoğan correctly, Yılmaz said, "I cannot accept the point we have reached. While our President is struggling with so many problems both inside and outside the country, some headquarters officials are still doing the greatest harm by not conveying the facts about the field and the party base to our President correctly and as they are. I saw this much more clearly in the interview held yesterday. They are knowingly allowing the party base to drift away rapidly," he said.

"THEY SHOULD RESIGN FROM THEIR DUTIES"

Stating, "I made the decision to resign as the voice of the base," Yılmaz continued his words as follows:

"I hope this resignation of mine will be an example to the General Headquarters Local Administrations President and the General Headquarters Organization President, who are the main culprits of our losses in the March 31 Local Elections, and that they will do what is necessary to strengthen our President's hand and resign from their duties. I am not resigning from my party.

I am resigning from my position in the party only of my own will and volition, in order to strengthen the hand of our Chairman, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and to start the movement for change in our party from our district. I am not hiding behind any excuses.

My wish is that our headquarters officials and high board members will also risk losing their own positions and sincerely convey the facts of the party base and the field to our President correctly from now on. Thus, I hope they will contribute to the further strengthening of this cause."

Following Yılmaz's statements, the Şehitkamil district administration also announced that they had resigned.
